Sept 2009 General Information:
Because we have so many new locomotive projects that rely on a very similar split-frame design, we have undertaken a complete review of the motor, drive train, and electrical pick-up assembly. Several key components have been identified that will have a noticeable improvement on the quality and reliability of our locomotives. Because of these changes and improvements, all of our upcoming locomotives will be delayed by about 90 days. We decided that this delay was worth it, given the improvements that will impact so many products: GP7, GP30, GP38-2, SD70, AC4400 & C44-9W.
We are also reviewing the design of our basic 36” roller bearing wheel to improve its appearance and tracking ability. This will cause a 45 day delay for many of our rolling stock products, but again, this is such a key component in the design that we decided it was worth the delay.
Finally, the global economic slowdown has caused all of our factories to lay off workers. This is causing some additional unavoidable delays as our factories are working short staffed.
