Products

AZL produces two product lines:

Brass models.

Made in Korea by Ajin, these models are limited in production. They feature exquisite detailing and features. Each model is made individually by hand and boasts a rich feel unlike “ordinary” models. AZL Brass locomotives are treasured for their weight and running characteristics.

Injection models.

Mass production does not mean lost details. AZL’s legendary quality lives on in our injection plastic line, but at a lower price. We are fanatics about prototypical accuracy, so while other makers will produce a single mold per locomotive, AZL frequently produces a separate mold for each roadname. We do this because features vary from railroad to railroad. A Union Pacific SD70 has its headlights mounted horizontally above the cab, while a BNSF SD70’s headlights are vertically mounted in the nose, below the windshield. While other brands just paint the headlights in place, AZL takes the time, and the expense, to change the actual injection mold. This is just one example of dozens of changes that we make from railroad to railroad to ensure that your AZL injection locomotive is as close to the real thing as possible. Of course, we also use the best Swiss made Faulhaber coreless motors with large brass flywheels for the best operational running possible. We also include little extras, like delicate detail parts that could be easily damaged in transit, but you can add for unbelievable realism under the strongest of magnifying glasses. We also include fully detailed snowplows with air hoses and fixed couplers that you can use instead of the included truck mounted couplers. This allows you, the modeler, to choose between added realism, or superior operating characteristics. At AZL we are constantly improving our models; not just repainting the same old thing over and over. We have made over a dozen improvements to our SD70 and GP7 chassis since they were first introduced, and we will continue to seek ways to improve our models with each production run.
